Date nights are so important for a healthy relationship, especially if there are kiddos involved. My fiancé and I do a date night once a month. This past Monday I got a whole date day! (This is why I’m a little behind in blogging but what can ya do?)
He had to be up early anyways so he could get the girls to school so while he was gone I took a shower and got half ready. I call half ready doing everything but makeup and the final hair fluff. We had a 10 o’clock appointment and after that we decided to get some breakfast. After we ran a few errands and then went home. I finished getting ready – put makeup on and finished my hair.
We went to run a few more errands and then made our way to Saratoga. I’ve been wanting to take him to The Saratoga Winery for a few months now so I could wine and dine him! We basically had just planned on drinking and eating all day but what’s a good date without getting drunk and stuffing your faces? So we did wine tasting and got an amazing cheese, crackers and meat tray, we got more wine and at the end we got chocolate! Pretty much the best way to start off a date. He was a little skeptical but by the end I think he became a wine and chocolate fan!
Next we went to a brewery that was on the way home, and on the way to the restaurant we were going to go to for dinner. At the brewery we each got a flight where we each sampled four beers and also tried each others!

For dinner we went to a somewhat new restaurant that’s in downtown Glens Falls called Farmacy. We’ve been wanting to go there since they opened as everyone we talked to about it has said how amazing the food is. They don’t have a menu online anywhere as they get all of their ingredients from local farmers markets so the menu changes often. Everything on the menu sounded amazing! I decided on the hanger steak with garlic mashed potatoes and they added a small salad on the side. To drink I got a Cabernet Sauvignon. Gus got steak, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. After eating there we know what all the talk is about and will definitely be going back. Next time we plan on sitting at the chefs counter so we can watch them cook!
After dinner we walked to a cigar shop that had just opened downtown that we’ve been wanting to check out. We each had a cigar and then went home!
Whatever a date night looks like for you it’s so important to take the time regularly to reconnect and put yourselves first. It’s so easy to get swept away in day to day life, especially if you, work opposite shifts, you have kids, or any other obstacle that take away from your relationship. It’s okay to say you need alone time with each other!
As always, thanks for reading!
