Hi! My name is Danielle, you can call me Dee! I am a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend, a dog sister, a freelance graphic designer, an Etsy shop owner and a hospital operator. I am adding one more niche to my bag of tricks today, I am a blogger! While growing up I had always kept a diary, I stopped a few years ago, I guess I decided I no longer had the time. My hopes of this blog is that it will act like a diary of sorts. I want to take you along while I go through the next stages of my journey! I also want to share with you my interests! I am a total product junkie, I also love trying new health related services so I plan on doing lots of product reviews!
Before all that let’s get into some background details. I’m from upstate New York, Queensbury, which if your not familiar is pretty close to being right between Lake George and Saratoga. If you really aren’t familiar just know that there is a HUGE difference between upstate and downstate! Think Adirondack mountains and country side views mixed with shopping centers and chain restaurants and not “the big apple”.
I’m 32 years old, turning 33 in June (I just admitted that.) I’m not exactly where I thought I would be at this stage of the game but we’re still hopeful.
I live with my wonderful boyfriend Gus and his two girls live with us on the weekends. They are 7 going on 17 and 4 going on trained circus monkey. We’ve been dating for almost two years and just moved in together this past November. (More to come on that.)
I am super close to my immediate family. I am an only child and grew up with my mom, dad and our fur babies. Growing up we had always had cats but when I was in high school we turned into a dog family. The difference was night and day. Don’t get me wrong I still love cats but there’s something about a dog that makes you feel great to come home. I think it’s that everyday they meet you at the door with their tail wagging so feverishly you’d think they were going into a fit of hysterics. This is regardless of you being gone for 10 hours, 10 minutes or you just took out the trash. We got Joey when I was in eleventh grade, I remember it like it was yesterday … My mom and I went to a breeder one town over. All the puppies were in a playpen, awake playing and full of spunk. One puppy stood out more than the others. We had to go to the bank to take money out and when we came back all the puppies except for Joey were napping in the pen. He was jumping at the play pen wall, tongue hanging to one side and ready to come home! He was a happy, healthy, 5 pound 12 ounce, white and brown, baby Shih Tzu!
My mom and I have been super close pretty much right from the start, give or take a few tax season meltdowns (she’s an accountant.) My dad and I probably have that typical father/ daughter relationship where your close when your young and then you start to drift. I’m older now so it’s been on it’s way back.
We have a super large extended family! Another trait perhaps of upstate New York, that and we’re a very Irish family. My great great grandparents on my dads side had seventeen children! You can imagine from there what it’s escalated to. I don’t even know half of them. It’s rare for me to meet someone new, and not to be asked if I’m related to so and so. We just stick to communicating with a few close relatives and leave it at that.
Thanks for reading part one of getting to know me! Stay tuned for part two where I’ll get more into college and career!
